banned, but never forgotten :icondesertblu:

I know that some of you feel that there is no place for a political blog or journal on deviant art, if this is how you feel you can stop reading now! I promise my feelings wont be hurt. I believe that all opinion is fair game on a public forum, I don't have to like it, or agree with it. Some times blogs can be funny, and sometimes pretty ugly. Call this blog a call to reality. War is coming! World war! Opec today has said that it is possible that oil will reach 200 dollars a barrel by the end of the year. I am told that the laws of supply and demand dictate the cost of consumables. Sorry I am calling bullshit right now! Greed does. I don't know of anyone who is driving unnecessarily. Most people have to find new measures to balance their personal budgets because the cost of fuel has driven up the cost of all other consumables. People can not keep pace, and find that they are now slipping into poverty. I know for a fact that most people are not driving like they once did. I challenge the claim that there is higher demand for oil. Unless my euro brothers have a higher base salary, they have to be hurting as well. I am sickened to think that the oil companies posted profits that increased up to 50 percent from the last quarter. It is my firmest belief that the oil companies and opec have pulled the biggest terrorist attack off, they have destroyed the American economy. American politicians are afraid to approach the R word. Dammit we have been in recession since Bush took office. They need to recalculate because I think we are seeing the opening of a great depression. I don't think I need to remind most that last depression was ended with world war, not the great works projects that built such things as Hoover dam. A couple of years ago, congressman Kucinich proposed a windfall profit tax on the oil companies, Dennis was silenced, I have not heard of anything else on the subject. I as a taxpaying citizen of this country demand that the tax breaks that oil companies have received over the last 10 years or so be reprimanded immediately and furthermore I demand that they pay the American public back those tax breaks for the last 5 years. Make the government work for the people, not the big business.

i hear you there! just today both bp and shell announced massive profits for this quarter....they shouldn't be making profits in the billions for 3 months when there are people out there who can't afford to turn their heat on in the winter....not to mention the billions of motorists out there who are paying out the wazoo for a tank of gas......it makes me absolutely sick! gas over here in the uk is around $8-9 per gallon!!!! our gas bill for this winter is higher than it's ever been, and it was a very mild winter and we didn't even have our heat on that much....

It has become to a point where I am riding my bike to work. Which is a good 30 miles there and back. The last time i was filling up my tank it was around $3.49 a gallon. Half way through the fill up the guy came out and changed the price to $3.89 and I had to argue my ass off for about 20 minutes that i shouldn't have to pay for the new price cause I was already half way done filling up when he changed it. This has gotten way out of hand.

The people at the very top will likely benefit from a depression. It's a good way to consolidate power, making everyone desperate. I have heard in the past about refineries deliberately cutting back operations to drive prices up, also.

The current global economic model is destroying us, and the hopes for a better future.

Here, here!! I agree 100%. The current state of the US economy is ridiculous, and as far as I can see, it is only getting worse. I find it quite offensive that we are fed a bunch of BS about the supply of oil being the cause of the rising prices, while like you pointed out, the oil companies continue to report record profits quarter after quarter, year after year. I feel like I'm being slapped in the face every time I buy gas. I certainly hope that your predictions are wrong, but unfortunately I tend think they are pretty accurate...

have you seen that somehow conoco philips are re exploring the alaskan reserve for oil. the article i read is that they are surveying what they did 30 years ago trying to find more oil in the same fields. They also said that the field is used up after only 30 years. And i find myself calling bullshit again. IF memory serves me,at the beginning of the first 4 years of recession bush wanted to congress to exceptionally explore for all of the oil in alaska, and in the national park as well. Well here we are @ 3.69 for a gallon of gas, guess what they are exploring for possibilities and i bet the park is next! I think this is all a con job. So in prelude to depression at the end of the worst 8 years for america, bush has gotten away with it. sorry for the explicative, but f*ck bush

Here is what i have seen today [link]
:iconbucknut:
I definitely agree that it's a con. We are one of, if not the most, technologically advanced countries in the world, I'm sure that if we spent any amount of time and effort on it we could mass produce a more eco-friendly fuel source than oil anyway, but there wouldn't be any money in that for the big business oil companies, so the Bush administration isn't the least bit interested in that. The state of our country after 8 years of Bush is disgusting, it's not just the oil prices. No need to apologize to me for the explicative, I totally agree with your sentiment...
